I’d Do Anything - episode 3

I waited for a whole week to see the third episode of the BBC talent search - but having seen it now I am very disappointed . I have seen the musical too many times - and a modern scene full with lights and songs completely different than the ones written by Lionel Bart just did not seem right. I felt like I was watching yet another version of Musical Idol…and until now my expectations was set too high. Also the Nancys are getting a bit of too much attention on the expense of the Olivers. It would be fair if there was equal distribution of media time …

Just for the record my favorite Nancy at the moment is Keisha. With Olivers my favorite now is Arthur - hopefully next episode he will be selected.

The Olivers - Glorious food ( the best performance in this weeks show )

Finally the long wait is over and I play the second episode of the BBC`s talent search show ” I will do anything”. The girls which were approved on the previous stage are now enrolling into the Nancy`s school and there are many challenges ahead of them. The first - to take off their make up ?! Weird - huh especially that that for some of them this seems like a big dramatic step . Hmm …no way to know what a make up does for them as I am not a girl , but as a boy I could say that they are always so much beautiful without it. I liked the teachers in the training school - they seems to be real professionals and the girls are really lucky to be able to work with them.
As the girls are getting busy at the Nancy school, the directors reminds us that the search for “really Gutsy Boy ” for the role of Oliver continues. The selected youngsters are being notified .They are : Arthur ( he is good very good), Joseph, Kwayedza, Gareth, Jordan ,Gwion, Laurence ,Jonny ( who is singing a Billy Elliot`s tune and is one of my favorites for now), Harry, Sam, Alex ( a favorite of mine since the first episode ), and Chester .
Sadly my favorite for the role of Nancy did not make it further - she was the one for which I really felt while watching her reactions in the previous episode. The selection process is too dramatic - and the BBC did a great job transferring the emotions to the audience. I know its just a show - but it feels like something more - much more. After seeing all the girls I have my favorite and it is the nineteen year old Jessy.
Now I am waiting for the third episode …

Forget those dull productions like Music Idol , I wanna be a star…etc. BBC`s new show I’d Do Anything rules is much better than the rest shows out there. Few days ago I wrote a short post about it , and recently saw the first episode. It exceeded my expectations. During the first 13 minutes of the episode one can see the talent search for Nancy. Its amazing that her role inspired so many girls from all over the country . ( an extremely funny scene showed a man dressed like woman who wanted to be Nancy - I don`t think that he will make it) . As you probably know I have seen the musical several times watching 2 different girls in the role of Nancy and they both were very good at that. One of my favorite Nancy’s I saw in this first episode was the single mother who went to the audition with her son - her reaction when she heard the decision of the casting agent was truly heartbreaking. ( she appears once more in this episode and her second appearance really got me - I feel like I have been on stage with her or n the audience - but will not provide any spoilers so you can see for yourself). I am exited to see what will happen next. At the end off the 12th minute one can see the boys who would be competing for the role or Oliver ( the director even mentioned that they have to beg for their own food ( : ). The main goal is to find a cute talented boy who will win the hearts of the audience - and from what I saw there are many candidates which would fit the description of the adorable orphan.
After seeing the first episode of the show - singing along to the great tunes of the Lionel Bart I felt a sudden desire to see the musical again as soon as I can. I wonder if BBC realize that people from all over the world are interested in I`d do Anything.

One of my favorite musicals is Oliver. About a year ago I wrote a post about it and recently found out about that BBC is currently hosting an audition for the next West end oliver. This is handled in a format of Saturday night show - I’d Do Anything. The show would be great as more than 50 boys aged between 9 and 14 were auditioned - out of them 12 will be competing for the part of the famous Oliver Twist in the life shows aired on BBC. On the same show girls will be competing for the role of the caring Nancy.
The first show will be aired on Saturday 15th March at 7.30pm and I am really jealous to all who will have a chance to watch it live. Hopefully someone will record it and make it available on the net as soon as the show gets aired so that everyone will have a chance to experience the magic of one of thus unforgettable musical.

I suppose you could say I met Sky KID by accident, but when he asked me to feature my own art on his blog, I was quite flattered.

You can call me Treijim. I have a deviantART gallery (the largest), a Sheezyart gallery (the second largest), and many more around the place. My digital work is all done with a mouse, and I’ve been doing such work since 2005, though I’ve really been drawing for my entire life. I have had no training in the specific areas of art I practice. I guess you could say I’m both prolific and obsessed. And to cut to the chase, below are some of my best pieces:

Josh Hutcherson 2H, 2B, 8B pencils, 8B Mars Lumograph pencil. 25cm x 39cm cartridge paper (15″ x 9.5″) Around 20 hours. It’s of Josh Hutcherson and based on a scene from Bridge to Terabithia. He’s one of my favourite actors. It’s the biggest graphite portrait I’ve ever done. Click the image to see the deviantART submission and for more information.

Shade of Autumn

Mouse, Paint Shop Pro, about 9 hours. One of my more painterly works. The boy is William. He’s in one of the smaller stories I’m writing, based in the world of Riiga. It’s the only one of my images that has sold more than one print on deviantART. Click the image for a larger view and more information.

Mouse, Paint Shop Pro, pen lineart, 3-5 hours. This one is of Nari. Occasionally I feel like drawing cute for cute’s sake. Nari is usually the end product. By the way, that’s fur, not skin. He is of a race called the Sirins.

Waiting for Yesterday

(Mouse, Paint Shop Pro 9, about 18 hours over the past five days. It’s of Evan, who is another one of my characters I draw often. This is one of my more emotional pieces, and also one of those pictures where I spare no details. It’s probably my favourite Evan drawing. Click the image for a proper view.

Let It GoMouse, Paint Shop Pro, 10-15 hours. The one in front is Cole. He’s the main character of the largest story I’m writing. The one behind is Evan. This drawing is a representation of the strength of the friendship that is developed and tested through the story. It was really fun to draw!

And there are tons more in my gallery. I hope those five images covers enough of my characters and styles.

I do not remember where I stumbled upon this image - but it became a favorite of mine. There is something special about it - the boy seems to be with an angelic and devilish spirit at the same time ( devilish because of the fire surrounding him).

May be that is the idea behind the photograph to show how the evil surrounding the innocence of youth . Look at his expression - it is calm like he is thinking of something - may be trying to find an answer for himself on which side he can stand.

Anyway I couldn`t resist in sharing this picture with you - if you know the source by any chance please let me know.

Junior Eurovision 2007

June 27, 2007 at 8:59 pm | In Art, Music | 2 Comments

I was surfing today trying to find some more information about the new edition of the song contest Eurovision Junior. For those of you who never heard of it - it is just like the official version of Eurovision - only the contestants are much more talented and cooler. Antonio Jose and Razz - both favorite singers of mine began their careers with participation in the contest.

So what`s new about the 2007 contest - it will be held in Netherlands on 8th of December and will have four more countries making their debut - Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia and Lithuania - since I am familiar with two of these countries I am afraid that they will not be able to prepare well - as in general the concept of Eurovision Junior is unfamiliar to them - and they will pick some representative using more or less unfair methods ( the son of someone …etc ) instead of making a big contest as this is done in Russia, Spain and the other more established countries that have their representatives at EVJ.

I also read in Wikipedia that the minimum age is now raised from 8 to 10 years - which for me seem like a good decision - and also that the competition will have new logo - but no further information about it is released as of this moment. Also only three participants are known now - but there is time until December - and I will keep you updated - and also you can keep yourself updated by following the wikipedia page of the Junior Eurovision 2007
