Do you believe in true love; in having a soul mate – a person that completes you? Before you start wondering what sort of weird movie review is this going to be, I will explain myself by saying that you are likely to ask yourself that kind of question, both while you watch and after you’ve seen the 2011 romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Yes, it’s a comedy. Yet, it is also a Coming-of-Age film, even if those who come of age belong to two different generations – a father (Steve Carell ) and son (Jonah Bobo). They and others in the film each “come of age ” in their own way as the story unfolds.
Everything starts with a divorce. A man tries to reinvent himself. A women attempts to justify her decision to herself and a son who is madly in love. He is only thirteen and people at that age who talk about being in love usually hear the “You have no idea what are you talking about” phrase. But, if people who would say that watch Crazy, Stupid, Love, they are quite likely to change their perception.
The story lines combined different subplots whose twists and turns ensure that you will enjoy the entire two hours of cinematic entertainment that directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have prepared.
